He Knows My Name

He Knows My Name ✨

A Devotional for Girls Who Feel Invisible

Isaiah 43:1 • John 10:3 • Psalm 139:1–4

There’s something comforting about slipping into your comfiest pajamas at the end of a long day. The world quiets down. The expectations fade. The pressure to perform, impress, or fit in finally lets go. But even in the softest, safest moments, many of us carry quiet questions underneath the surface:

“Does anyone really see me?”

“Am I too much?”

“Am I not enough?”

“Does anyone actually know who I am?”

We live in a world that hands out labels fast—dramatic, emotional, invisible, extra, shy, loud, weird, too sensitive, not pretty enough, not spiritual enough. And sometimes… we start to believe them.

I want to remind you of something true and unshakable:

The God of the universe knows your name.

Not the name people call you when they’re frustrated.

Not the labels culture tries to put on you.

Not the lies that whisper you’re “too much,” “not enough,” or “hard to love.”

Your real name.

The one He sings over you.

The one He wrote into your story before you ever took a breath.

The Lies We Carry

We all carry phrases the world has whispered over us.

Some of us carry them quietly on the inside.

Some of us wear them like heavy backpacks.

That’s why tonight we pause and ask:

“What lie have I been believing about my identity?”

Write it down in your journal.

Because lies lose power when we bring them into the light.

And truth becomes stronger when we write it, say it, and see it.

The Name He Calls You

Isaiah 43:1 “Fear not… I have called you by name. You are Mine.”

Let that sink in.

God doesn’t look at you and see a list of flaws or failures.

He sees a daughter.

He sees someone worth redeeming.

He sees someone worth calling — personally.

You’re not one face in a crowd.

You’re not an afterthought.

You’re not a mistake.

He says, “I know you. I choose you. You are Mine.”

Before you learned to doubt yourself…

Before someone else made you feel small…

Before any lie ever attached itself to your heart…

God spoke truth over you.

And Scripture makes that truth even louder in Jeremiah 1:5:“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart…”

Before anyone else could label you, God named you.

Before anyone else could value or devalue you, God appointed you.

Before you lived a single day, God saw every one of them.

This means:

✨ You are not random.

✨ You are not overlooked.

✨ You are not too much.

✨ You are not invisible.

✨ You are here on purpose.

He Leads You by Name

John 10:3 “He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.”

Jesus doesn’t guide you like a boss yelling instructions.

He leads like a Shepherd — gently, closely, knowing exactly what you need.

If He calls you by name…

then He knows your fears.

He knows your story.

He knows what’s around the corner before you do.

And He’s walking with you through every bit of it.

Fully Known. Fully Loved.

Psalm 139:1–4 “You have searched me, Lord, and You know me…”

Every thought.

Every insecurity.

Every hidden struggle.

Every unspoken prayer.

He knows it all — and He stays.

We live in a world that teaches girls to hide the messy parts of themselves. But Jesus isn’t scared of your mess. He isn’t embarrassed by your emotions. He isn’t overwhelmed by your personality.

The Names God Calls You

Scripture is full of God’s true names for you:

  • Chosen (1 Peter 2:9)
  • Loved (Jeremiah 31:3)
  • Known (Psalm 139:1)
  • His (Isaiah 43:1)
  • Created with purpose (Ephesians 2:10)
  • Redeemed (Titus 2:14)
  • Set apart (Jeremiah 1:5)

You are not defined by your reputation, your mistakes, your emotions, or your insecurities.

You are defined by the God who formed you, knows you, and calls you by name.

The Truth You Get to Carry

So here’s the truth I want to whisper over you today:

You don’t have to introduce yourself to God.

You don’t have to earn His attention.

You don’t have to perform for His love.

You are already fully known, fully seen, and fully loved.

And when life gets loud…

when the lies get heavy…

when the world tries to rename you…

Come back to this truth:

Your Father calls you by name.

And that name is ________________.

*Choose a word that God calls you to replace the lie you carry. Write it over the lie you once carried.*

Journaling Prompts:

  1. Why do you think God cares enough to know each of us by name?
  2. What lie about your identity do you need Jesus to replace with truth?
  3. What word did you choose to replace the lie and why?
  4. How does it feel to know you’re known and chosen by Jesus personally?

PRAYER

Jesus, thank You for knowing me deeply and loving me fully. Thank You for seeing every part of who I am—past, present, and future. Break the lies I’ve believed about myself and replace them with Your truth. Help me walk confidently in the identity You gave me before I was even born.
Amen.

Craft:

Make an ornament for your tree. One one side write the lie you have been believing/carrying about yourself. On the other side write God’s truth about what He calls you. Let it serve as a reminder that you are known, loved, seen, chosen and redeemed.
