Gratitude in Every Season- Thanksgiving

Gratitude in Every Season — Thankful To the Giver

Thanksgiving is one of those seasons where everyone suddenly remembers to be grateful. We make lists, write captions, and go around the table sharing the good things in our lives. And while all of that is beautiful, Scripture invites us into something even deeper — something that goes far beyond a list of blessings.

It’s the shift from being thankful for to being thankful to.

The Heart of Thanksgiving🤎🍂🍁

In our culture, gratitude sometimes sounds like a checklist:

  • I’m thankful for family.
  • I’m thankful for food.
  • I’m thankful for my home.
  • I’m thankful for my people.

But biblical gratitude doesn’t stop at the gift — it looks up to the Giver.

James 1:17 tells us, “Every good and perfect gift is from above.”

Every joy, every moment of peace, every blessing that makes your heart feel full — they all carry the fingerprints of God.

Thanksgiving isn’t really about counting what we have.

It’s about recognizing Who it came from.

Gratitude, in its purest form, is worship.

Thankful In, Not Always For

1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 tells us to:

  • Rejoice always
  • Pray continually
  • Give thanks in all circumstances

God isn’t asking us to pretend hard things are easy. He’s not telling us to be thankful for heartbreak, loss, confusion, or disappointment. But He does invite us to be thankful in those moments — because He is still good, still present, and still working all things together for our good.

Gratitude becomes a declaration of trust:

“God, even here… I believe You’re with me.”

Gratitude That Changes Us

When we choose gratitude rooted in God, our hearts begin to shift:

1. Gratitude changes our vision.

We stop staring at what we lack and start noticing God’s faithfulness woven into everyday life.

2. Gratitude grows our spiritual strength.

It builds resilience and steadiness. It helps us hold onto hope when life feels heavy.

3. Gratitude draws us closer to God.

It reminds us that every moment of joy, every answered prayer, and every breath is a gift from Him.

4. Gratitude lights up our relationships.

Grateful hearts create community. They make us kinder, more present, and more aware of the people around us.

The Gratitude Table Setting

This Girlsgiving, try setting a different kind of table — not with plates and silverware, but with worship and reflection. Here’s a simple way to do that:

🍽️ Centerpiece: Jesus

Write one thing you’re thankful to Jesus for — not something He’s given you, but something about His character.

🪑 Place Setting: People

List the people God has placed in your life and how they reflect His love.

🍠 Side Dishes: Small Gifts

Think of the tiny joys He sprinkles through your day — the sunlight, the laughter, the warmth, the quiet moments.

🍰 Dessert: The Hard Blessing

Choose one difficult thing you’re thanking God in — and ask Him what He’s teaching you through it.

This is the kind of gratitude that transforms hearts.

A Prayer for Your Season

“Jesus, thank You for being the Giver of every good and perfect gift. Help me shift my eyes from what I have to the One who provides it. Teach me to trust You in every season, to see Your goodness even in the hard things, and to worship You with a grateful heart. Amen.”

A Final Thought

Gratitude is more than a holiday tradition — it’s a way of life.

It’s choosing to see God’s hand in your story, even when the pages feel messy.

It’s remembering that He is faithful, He is kind, and He is near.

This Girlsgiving, may we be girls who don’t just list blessings…

but lift our eyes to the Blesser.
